School Personnel

We believe that a developmentally responsive middle school should be equipped with school personnel that provide students with a safe space. Therefore, we will provide a glimpse into the roles we expect of personnel to fill. Students and parents will become familiar with our wonderful personnel throughout their time at Dunder Mifflin.

Administrators

Administrators that staff, parents, and students will be most familiar with are Dunder Mifflin’s Principal, Ms. Pamela Beesly Halpert, and Assistant Principal, Mr. Michael Scott. Our administrators main goals are to be readily accessible for all while working diligently to ensure that students are being provided with developmentally responsive curriculum. Administrators will be regularly observing and supporting teachers in their curricular practices while providing them with insight and support.

Teachers

All of our educators are highly trained and prepared to educate and provide students with curriculum that is developmentally responsive to this age group. We expect our teachers to be advocates for lifelong learning; therefore, all of our teachers regularly attend professional developments and hold group meetings to further their craft of being the best educators for adolescent students. Teachers are to provide a safe space for their students. Students will also be educated by teachers who are truly engaged in their disciplines, which enhances the ability for all of our students to learn with enthusiasm.

Special Educators

We believe that our students should be provided with opportunities to be able to produce the best work they possibly can. All students will become familiar with our special education team because we see the importance of inclusion in the classroom. With inclusion, students will also be able to seek the help of our SPE team if they are in need of additional work or assistance both inside and outside of the classroom. Students with specific needs relating to disabilities will work with this team to ensure their enriched education through personalized practices. Our team of special educators will work closely with core subject teachers to ensure that students are receiving equal opportunity within all grade levels.

School Counselor

Our school counselors, Mr. Kevin Malone and Ms. Angela Martin, are readily available for all students to seek assistance in regards to any issues students may be experiencing. The counselors at Dunder Mifflin want to ensure that all students feel safe and secure in their environments. They will be working closely with all staff to ensure that students are well aware of their resources provided by the school. With this, our counselors work closely with our school psychologist to promote developmentally responsive practices for our school environment to ensure that our students are keen on the importance of mental and physical health throughout their lives.

School Psychologist

Our school psychologist, Ms. Kelly Kapoor, works closely with our school counselors to promote the overall health of all who are apart of our school community. This will include the formulation and implementation of presentations and collaboration throughout the school to promote the importance of mental health to students. This may include past presentations that we have conducted on bullying, stress management, and global perspectives. Ms. Kapoor will work closely with our special education team as well to create plans for students needing specialized accommodations and services.

School Nurse

Our school nurse, Ms. Meredith Palmer, is located in our front office. Students are free to visit the nurse at any time during the school day for any needs they deem fit of her assistance. Ms. Palmer will also be available for about thirty minutes after our final school bell (3:00-3:30) in order for students to visit after school if needed.

School Resource Officer

We will have a school safety officer readily available throughout every school day. This is to ensure the safety of students, staff, and guests at all times. Our community has stationed Officer Dwight Schrute at our middle school as we are transitioning into our new model. We are confident of his experience and ability to work with staff and students to create a safe environment for fostering learning and growth.
