Family & Community Involvement

At Dunder Mifflin Middle School, we strive to make sure our community feels welcomed and involved by staying in close contact through news letters and volunteer opportunities.

Contribution to Student Learning Opportunities:

In order to make sure our students are truly successful, our students must also have support at home as well as in school. Our teachers are working hard to provide students with an excellent differentiated education that helps each student to succeed, but we need the help of parents and guardians at home to enforce values as well. Some excellent ways to make your students successful at home can include making sure your students are completing their out of school work, and communicate with our staff about your students. Always feel free to contact us with any question or concern you may have. We are committed to working as a team, and parents and guardians are a big part of that team. Our team will work hard to keep parents and guardians informed in what is going on in our school at all times during the year. We will send out newsletters to let parents and guardians know what is the current events happening at Dunder Mifflin Middle School. Our teachers are also working hard to keep our Haiku updated so that you will be aware of what your student is learning and working on in each of their classes. Using Haiku, you can stay in touch with your student’s teacher, stay updated on their grades, and keep up with the assignments your student are given. Each of our teachers are provided an email address through the school in which they are instructed to check and update as often as possible. Email is the best way to get in touch with with the staff at Dunder Mifflin, and we will do our best to diligently and effectively respond in a timely manner. Conferences, such as student-teacher conferences, parent-teacher conferences, are also encouraged so that we can have a close relationship with you and your student. There are many forms of conferences that are available in different settings. We offer to have conferences in person, on the phone, or via Skype. We take discipline seriously and we are using a Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to make sure each student is getting the help and support they need to succeed. In order to do this best, we suggest enforcing the issues we are having at school. For example, if your child is having trouble staying awake in class, we suggest contacting us so that we can work together to make a plan on keeping your students awake and learning at school, possibly by making their bedtime a little earlier. Staying updated on your student’s schooling and keeping in close contact with us is the best way to make sure we are all working together on the same team that is committed to your student’s success.

The community is also important to our students’ academic successes at Dunder Mifflin Middle School. We are an exploratory school, so we are always more than happy to have guest speakers at our school. We post our speaker needs on our website, as well as on the newsletters we send home. If you or someone you know ever meet our needs, please do not hesitate to contact us so that our students can learn from them! We like to welcome those who are in a certain career path that our students are interested in, such as firefighters, policemen, chefs, CEOs, college professors, or anything that could open up our students’ minds on what they would like to do in their futures. The community is also encouraged to participate in our school’s fundraisers. You can do this by buying the products that our students are selling, this product can include candy, t-shirts, gift cards, or school gear. We also love for our students to be involved in the community as well. If there is ever a need for volunteers for your organization, please let us know so we can organize for students to be apart of it! Community service is something that we encourage at our school so our students can be involved in the making of our community. We are always looking out for improvements our school can make as well. We will let the community know if we are looking for improvements of our property, or supplies. In this case, you could donate to our cause, or you can participate in the making of our cause by volunteering in projects such as our annual planting of our garden, or our annual clean up our campus day. We do our best to keep our website updated with opportunities for the community such as looking for guest speakers, fundraisers, and events coming up. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or information that you have!

Contribution to Overall Success of School: At Dunder Mifflin, we try our best to keep the community involved in our school and what is going on in our school. There are many events that allow cooperation between the school and the community including sporting events, theatrical plays, fundraising, and community nights at local businesses. We have many different sports teams at Dunder Mifflin. One way to get more involved as a community is to attend these sporting events to show your support for Beet’s Athletics. There are many ways to support the Beets, we are always looking for volunteers in concession stands and donations to our sports teams. We also hold plays each semester of the year in order to allow our students to be creative and have a new experience. Concessions are also needed during those events, and buying a ticket will put funds directly into our theater program. Our students are also given the opportunity to participate in fundraisers each year. We have sold everything from paper, beets, and chocolate. Allowing your student to participate, or buying from a student, is a good way to be apart of our program. Our website gets updated quite often with the different events and opportunities available for the community to help our program. Our school calendar will be available on our school’s website. It will include holidays, teacher work days, events such as sporting events, fundraisers, and programs such as plays and musical performances. Our staff works hard to keep this calendar updated for your reference.
